Our pharmaceutical client uses BI software to support analysis and reporting for sales and marketing departments with Smart 1.0 platform implemented by Predica’s developers. It is based on SharePoint Performance Point Services and the SQL Server 2012 (ETL, OLAP server, reporting). During the subsequent phases of the SMART project, our client is keen to upgrade its BI infrastructure with the latest version of Microsoft SQL Server (2016) and we have been asked to prepare an architecture technical design of it.
We analyzed and developed technical design for the new BI farm. The project includes the use of SQL Server 2016 and Azure services that enable the creation and launch of advanced analytical algorithms for sales forecasting and detecting the correlation between sales performance and marketing activities, weather changes, pricing policy and logistic activities. Our technical design for the BI farm envisages the possibility of creating a modern reporting and data visualization with high density, access to KPIs and reports tailored to mobile devices. It also allows implementing multi-dimensional data models once created in SQL Server Analysis Services multiple times – in the cloud, on Linux, Hadoop or Teradata system.
